Living in Chicago means a busy schedule, and keeping your home clean can feel like a constant battle. Between work, family, and trying to enjoy the city, who has time for lengthy cleaning marathons? We get it. That’s why we’re sharing some super-quick, clever tips to refresh your space in minutes—and when you need a more thorough reset, we’re here to help.
Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest impact. You don’t need a full weekend or a big budget to give your space a little lift. These three easy ideas from Dollar Tree can be done in under five minutes and add a personal, polished touch to any room. Perfect for renters or homeowners looking for a fast refresh!
1. Create Beautiful Pressed Flower Coasters
This is a fantastic way to add a touch of nature and personality to your living room or kitchen. It’s also a great activity to do with friends!
What You’ll Need & How to Do It:
- Grab: A two-pack of coasters, a bottle of Mod Podge, and some pressed flowers (you can press your own or find pre-pressed ones).
- Do: Arrange your pressed flowers on the coaster. Then, carefully brush a layer of Mod Podge over the top to seal them in. Let it dry completely.
The result? A beautiful, custom accessory that looks anything but dollar-store! When life gets too hectic for deep cleaning help with the little details, fun projects like this can make your space feel cared for.
2. Elevate Basic Canvas Art
Dollar Tree’s canvas art is a steal, but with one simple trick, you can make it look like a gallery-worthy piece.
The Secret is in the Texture:
- Grab: A Dollar Tree canvas and Mod Podge.
- Do: Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the entire printed canvas, carefully following the existing brush strokes of the image.
As it dries, the Mod Podge adds real texture and dimension, transforming a flat print into something that looks hand-painted. It’s the perfect quick upgrade for blank walls that need personality. For the walls and floors around your new art, consider a professional home cleaning to make everything sparkle.
3. Disguise Unsightly Outlet Covers
This might be our favorite hack! It’s a brilliant solution for hiding those boring, beige outlet covers without any permanent changes.
A Genius Camouflage Trick:
- Grab: A Dollar Tree frame, some “Rub ‘n Buff” metallic finish, an outlet cover (found in the baby section for safety!), and a hot glue gun.
- Do: First, apply the Rub ‘n Buff to the frame to give it a chic, metallic look. Then, use hot glue to attach the outlet cover to the back of the frame. Simply place the frame over the existing outlet on your wall.
Voilà! An eyesore becomes a decorative feature. It’s these little details that make a clean your apartment feel truly polished and designed. Sometimes, you just need someone to clean my apartment so you can focus on the fun decorating parts.

Run to Dollar Tree for these quick ideas you can do in less than 5 minutes. First, pick up a two pack of coasters and Mod Podge from Dollar Tree. You’ll have to let me know which of these three ideas is your favorite. Put pressed flowers on the coasters. Add Mod Podge over top. This makes a great gift idea or a great craft idea with friends. Dollar Tree canvas art is still 125 and it’s killing it this year. And here’s why. You’re going to want to put some Mod Podge on top of your canvas. Follow the brush strokes of the painter. And when this dries, it’s going to look like a true painting that you would find in a gallery. Texture and dimension is what’s going to give it that true high-end look. But my favorite trick of the video is to grab a Dollar Tree frame and put some rub and buff over top. Then grab some Dollar Tree outlet covers. These are in the baby section. Put in an outlet, add some hot glue, and put your frame over top. Unsightly outlets be gone. Comment below with your favorite idea of the video. And don’t forget to save it so you actually remember to do it. And give me a follow if you enjoyed.
