Living in Chicago means juggling a million things, and keeping your home organized and clean often falls to the bottom of the list. But what if a little creativity could make your space both beautiful and easier to maintain? Let’s talk about smart, budget-friendly upgrades that add luxury and simplify your cleaning routine.
I’m obsessed with “Dollar Tree Luxury”—the art of using affordable finds to create high-end looking organization. I recently transformed a free cabinet into an in-home coffee beastro, and the best part? I designed it to be incredibly easy to keep spotless. You can do it too, and it’s a perfect project for anyone wanting to clean your apartment with smarter systems in place.
The Foundation: Smart Upgrades for Easy Maintenance
The secret to a space that stays clean is planning for it. Before I even styled my coffee bar, I focused on protective and functional elements that cut future cleaning time in half.
- Line Those Shelves: I used Dollar Tree’s fantastic shelf liner everywhere. It’s cute, protects surfaces from spills and scratches, and makes wipe-downs a breeze. A simple tip that makes any home cleaning service professional nod in approval!
- Contain the Chaos: Wicker baskets from Dollar Tree are perfect for inside drawers, holding coffee beans, pods, and small plates. Containing items prevents clutter and dust buildup, a core principle of good home organization.
- Hide the Cords: I drilled a discreet hole in the back of the cabinet for cords. Taming cable clutter instantly makes a space look cleaner and is safer for dusting.
Adding Ambiance (That Also Helps You See!)
Good lighting isn’t just for mood—it helps you see spills and dust so you can tackle them fast.
My favorite find? Motion-activated, magnetic, rechargeable lights. Stick them inside drawers or under shelves. Not only does it look incredibly high-end, but you’ll never fumble in a dark cabinet again. It’s a small upgrade that makes daily use and quick apartment cleaning tasks much simpler.
Styling with Cleanability in Mind
Here’s where the fun “luxury” touches come in, chosen with easy upkeep as a priority.
Sealable Canisters are Your Best Friend
I grabbed large canisters and sugar jars from Dollar Tree. They keep coffee, sugar, and creamer fresh, sealed, and dust-free. They look like they’re from a high-end store but cost a fraction. For a pro touch, I swapped lids for pour spouts from Amazon and added chalk labels.
Smart Storage Solutions
Hooks installed inside the top of the cabinet hold adorable Dollar Tree mugs, freeing up shelf space. Gold-touch lamps and frames add whimsy and light. Even the “vinegar bottles” (really stylish dispensers) help contain liquids and prevent countertop stickiness.

I’m obsessed with Dollar Tree Luxury. I took this free cabinet and turned it to an in-home coffee beastro, and you can, too. Dollar Tree Luxury has never been easier. These motion activated lights are magnetic, rechargeable, and when you light the inside of your drawers, it looks so high-end. Their shelf liner is also fantastic. Look how cute. I love their wicker baskets. This was perfect inside the drawers. Here’s where I’m storing all of the coffee beans as well as smaller plates. Look how amazing this looks. I took some wallpaper that’s just 99 cents a square foot from Amazon. I drilled a hole in the back so the cords could go through. I made sure to line the shelves to keep it easy to clean up. I installed hooks in the top of the cabinet along with these Dollar Tree mugs. I’m obsessed with these gold Dollar Tree touch lamps which added instant ambiance to the inside of the cabinet. I also grabbed these sugar canisters from Dollar Tree and added it inside. Have you seen the gold frames at Dollar Tree? They’re amazing and add a touch of whimsy. But I think my favorite part are these vinegar bottles. They’re all over my stores. And I changed out the tops using pore spouts from Amazon. I love the gold look and I added chalk labels to them. And if you try nothing else from this video, next time you’re in Dollar Tree, grab these big canisters. They hold so much and look like William Sonoma brand. I added a vintage microwave to the bottom. I would love to know what you think of my DIY coffee beastro.
