Today I’m going to make some banana bread. It’s a really good recipe. It’s off of Simply Recipes. It’s the one that I’ve been using forever and it’s really simple and easy and fast. Okay, preheat your oven to 350 while you mix all of this together. Mash three ripe bananas. You can use a fork if you don’t have a mixer. It’s really easy to do this by hand. You actually don’t want them to be too liquidy, like you want some lumps. Stir in 1/3 a cup of melted butter. And it can be salted or unsalted. I used unsalted. Pour in half a teaspoon of baking soda, one pinch of salt. You can add 1/4 cup of sugar or take off 1/4 cup of sugar depending on how sweet you like it. This recipe is kind of like make it your own. I do like to do 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/4 cup of white sugar myself. I just find that that’s like the perfect level of sweetness for me. Crack one egg and add one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Now you’re going to mix it. Next, pour in 1 and 1/2 cups of allpurpose flour. Now, this is why I like this banana bread, cuz it’s like choose your own adventure. You can add whatever you want for the mix-ins, but I usually do about a cup of large semieet chocolate chips and then like a little bit of small semieet chocolate chips, so I get like big chunks and little chunks of chocolate. And then I like nuts, so I do a half a cup of walnuts. But again, if you have a nut allergy, whatever, you can omit that. Next, pour in your batter into a greased baking pan and spread it out evenly. The recipe recommends an 8×4 in loaf pan. Now, if you want, you can add some chocolate chips on the top and sprinkle on some nuts if you’re doing the nuts version. Now, we’re ready to pop it in the oven at 350 degrees. It says the recipe calls for 55 to 65 minutes. I always set my timer for 55 minutes and then like poke it with a toothpick and make sure because if your oven’s a little hotter, you’re going to overcook it, overbake it. I’m just going to check and see how it’s doing. Oo, it’s pretty good. That is good. Okay. I greased the pan, so this shouldn’t be too hard to get it out. It’s delicious, you guys. It’s a soft. It’s very fresh. I would wait a little bit longer than I did to cut into it because it’s a little bit gooey, but it’s so good. I love the nuts in it. I think it makes a big difference for texture.
